Perumizhalai Kurumba Nayanar
The Story of Perumizhalai Kurumba Nayanar
In the town of Perumizhalai, there lived a man named Perumizhalai Kurumba Nayanar. He was a dedicated follower of Shiva and was known for his unwavering devotion to other devotees. He loved to serve them, offering them food and hospitality, and he would often know their needs before they even spoke.
His devotion led him to become a follower of another great saint, Sundaramurti Nayanar. He held Sundarar in such high regard that he made him the focus of his meditation. Through this practice, Perumizhalai Kurumba Nayanar developed incredible yogic powers. But even with these powers, his greatest joy was simply meditating on the holy name of Shiva.
One day, Sundarar was in another kingdom, and through his spiritual sight, Perumizhalai Kurumba Nayanar knew that Sundarar was about to ascend to Shiva's divine home, Kailash. He was filled with a deep longing to be with his beloved master and the Lord. He could not bear the thought of being left behind.
Using his powerful yogic abilities, Perumizhalai Kurumba Nayanar decided to leave his mortal body behind and travel to Kailash. He concentrated his mind and soul, and through his spiritual power, he was able to leave his physical form. He reached Kailash before Sundarar, where he was united with Shiva and granted a permanent place at the god's feet.
His story is a powerful example of how devotion and spiritual practice can lead to the highest form of liberation. He showed that the love for a fellow devotee is a direct path to the divine.
