Shakthi Nayanar
The Story of Shakti Nayanar
In the Chozha kingdom, a farmer named Shakti Nayanar was fiercely devoted to Shiva. He was so protective of Shiva's followers that he couldn't tolerate anyone who spoke ill of them. He believed that such blasphemy deserved punishment.
Shakti Nayanar made it his mission to defend the honor of devotees. He would use a weapon called a "shakti" to cut out the tongues of those who slandered them. This extreme act earned him his name and sent a powerful message that disrespectful words against the faithful would not be tolerated.
His unique service, driven by both love and valor, was his life's work. At the end of his life, he was granted a place at the feet of Shiva, the ultimate protector of all his devotees.
