The Story of Sirapuli Nayanar

In the Chozha kingdom, in the prosperous town of Tiruvakkur, a Brahmin named Sirapuli Nayanar lived a life of profound generosity and devotion to Shiva. Born into a family of Vedic scholars, he held a core principle: to give freely and without hesitation to any devotee of Shiva.

His devotion was all-encompassing. He meditated on the sacred five-letter mantra of Shiva, performed fire rituals three times a day, and served at the local temple. However, his most cherished service was to welcome and serve Shiva's devotees. When a devotee arrived at his home, he would greet them with sweet words and a humble prostration. He would offer them a comfortable seat and provide them with a feast filled with love. His generosity knew no bounds; he would give them anything they wished for, much like the rain that falls on all without prejudice.
